Ventura Family YMCA Dolphins

Coach Eric has been a competitive swimmer and triathlete his whole life. He has been coaching and teaching swimming at the Ventura Family YMCA for the past 3 years. He has his Level 3 United States Masters Swimming Certification among all the other certification that allows him to coach for our team. He enjoys working with kids to make progress in their own swimming career but most of all he just likes to have fun with others in and around the water.

Back in 2009 I started teaching swimming at the Y in Santa Clarita and worked three other places including coaching small kids on a swim team and eventually started a small business teaching on my own. I then spent 5 years in the Navy as a heavy equipment operator. In 2018 I started my own photography business and started going to the Y in Ventura and have had the best time with everyone there and can’t see anything better other than the Y and spending time with my three kids.

When Bob was in high school, he became a swim instructor, lifeguard, and coach while attending both high school and college. This experience gave him everything wonderful for the rest of his life, including a long and successful career in EMS, built through dedication, perseverance, direction, and health—qualities that swimming instilled in him. After retiring, Bob missed the privilege of helping people and realized the Ventura YMCA offers many opportunities to serve. He has returned to swimming, hoping to provide YMCA members with the valuable lessons he gratefully learned and now cherishes.

I have been a competitive swimmer for more than nine years. I am currently a senior in Ventura High School and have been teaching swim lessons for two years. My favorite stroke is butterfly and my favorite (and best) event is the 500 freestyle. In my free time I love to do art, volunteer, and read.
